Question 2 of 6 Intermediate Practical

How would you track changes in regulatory guidance?

Short answer

Maintain a versioned regulatory intelligence register with authority, document status, publication date, effective date, jurisdiction, product scope and an owner for impact assessment.

Why

A new EMA variation guideline may change timelines or category definitions without altering US filing requirements. Record the source URL, official title, revision, whether it is law or guidance, effective or transition dates and any associated FAQs. Compare it with the previous version, map changed provisions to internal processes, product authorizations and pending submissions, and assign legal or regulatory review to determine applicability.

Distinguish consultations and draft documents from implemented requirements. For changes with multiple implementation milestones, track each affected product and region separately, then document approvals, updates to procedures and training completion. Review recurring alerts from regulators and check the official text before relying on summaries.

Regulatory intelligence is a governed decision trail, not a collection of bookmarks.
